The Preschool Program is a full-day preschool for children ages 3 to 5 presenting with learning, communication, sensory, fine or gross motor, behavioral and/or medical challenges. Our program embraces play-based learning in an environment that addresses both educational and therapeutic goals and encourages self-initiated exploration. An optimum staff-to-child ratio assures individual attention.
This first step into a school-based setting is critical to long-term developmental progress, and our team of highly qualified professionals work with the student and family to ensure a successful transition from the home into a primarily facilities-based program. As in all of our programs, individual differences and needs are identified by the team and, in collaboration with the home school district child study team, the student’s initial Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed.
This process will typically be the parent’s first engagement with our collaborative team and may include professionals with a wide variety of skills and expertise. Please refer to our related services section for a description of services beyond our primary team of special education teachers and trained paraprofessional staff of teacher assistants and one-on-one aides.
The student’s home school district is responsible for the payment of Kingsway’s tuition and no cost is borne by the parent for Kingsway’s services. There are situations where a child requires additional services in the home and the Kingsway Social Worker will assist the family in establishing those services. The Social Worker will also assist the family in navigating their way through the funding of those services, whether through private insurance, Medicaid or, in very unique situations, the home school district.
The parent is not only involved in the identification and selection of the most appropriate school placement but is the primary driver of that decision making process. Kingsway strongly recommends that the home school district be involved as soon as possible in the referral and intake process, so families are encouraged to establish that relationship very early on. Kingsway staff can assist you in that process and you may access that assistance by contacting Elizabeth Dalzell at (856) 428-8108. Ms. Dalzell can also arrange a program tour for you and provide an initial opportunity to meet Kingsway Preschool Program staff.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Elementary School Program is open to students between the ages of 5 and 14 and is designed for those presenting with a wide variety of learning and/or developmental challenges. The program focuses not only on the development of all of the Common Core Standards, but also on a wide variety of daily living and social skills. Small classes ensure a low staff-to-student ratio so that all of our students get the individualized instruction and attention they need and deserve. Each team promotes a positive learning environment where students’ strengths and abilities are nurtured and accentuated. Students are also provided with many extra-curricular opportunities so as to expand their learning experiences and provide informal opportunities for peer interaction. These experiences include community field trips, assemblies and dances to name just a few.
The composition of each student’s team is a direct reflection of their unique characteristics and may include professionals with a wide variety of skills and expertise. Please refer to our related services section for a description of services beyond our primary team of special education teachers and trained paraprofessional staff including teacher assistants and one-on-one aides. Even if your child does not receive specific services from any given area of expertise listed, our integrated and collaborative approach to the provision of services ensures that every student is periodically screened and evaluated so as to ensure the earliest possible identification of performance difficulty or delay. This fully integrated and highly collaborative clinical model is a highlight of the KLC educational program and as a result services are oftentimes provided above and beyond the basic requirements of the Individualized Educational Plan.

By this point, the parent typically has an established relationship with a home school district case manager, and it is not uncommon for parents to have already had conversations with those case managers about alternative placement options for their child. In our experience most of those conversations have been quite positive and constructive but, if you are having difficulty with that conversation, Kingsway staff can assist you in that process. You may access that assistance by contacting Lynda Altadonna at (856) 428-8108. Ms. Altadonna can also arrange a program tour for you and provide an initial opportunity to meet Kingsway Elementary Program staff.
